Our network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 100 countries, delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customer’s operations and supply chains.
We have an exciting requirement for an Offshore Chemist (Zero Hours) to provide ad-hoc support across a wide range of offshore assets, supporting our customer projects in laboratory and production chemistry-related workscopes. The work may be wide-ranging, and the nature of the technical expectations varied. The nature of ad-hoc work requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing landscapes at short notice. As a representative of Intertek in a client-facing role, often working in isolation and in harsh working environments, the role demands the highest levels of technical and behavioural standards.
You will be engaged on a zero-hours contract. You will be paid for each day or part day worked as the scope of work becomes available which will allow you to work flexibly.
Key Activities
- Carry out offsite field projects as assigned, adhering to expected QHSE standards and behaviours
- Undertake routine sampling, sample preservation and analyses as directed in the work scope
- Establish key laboratory techniques and understanding relevant to routine sampling field projects (e.g., oil in water monitoring & scale squeeze support), including regulatory oil in water sampling and analysis including calibrations, BS&W & coulometric determination of water in oil, determination of density and chloride analysis (Mohr titration)
- Expeditious submission of Intertek trip documentation such as timesheets, reports and feedback forms
About You:
- Degree in chemical sciences or another scientific discipline
- Knowledge of carrying out Oil in Water analysis at an offshore installation
- Experience in providing support to a scale squeeze campaign
- Experience in carrying out the more challenging trips of an Offshore Chemist e.g., training, audits, and chemist cover
- Knowledge of offshore/petrochemical environment with respect to process analysis and treatment
- Experience in producing reports to the required standard so that they can be authorised internally and then issued to a client
- Aware of the hazards associated with online process, sampling and analysis
