Job description
To provide support to the Occupational Therapy service to enable the management and delivery of the therapeutic group programme and individual interventions on the unit for patients with eating disorders. To assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual patient care plans alongside the Occupational Therapist and the Multi-disciplinary Team. To assess individual patients strengths and needs in terms of self-care, productivity, leisure, and provide relevant therapeutic interventions as appropriate. To use practical and technical skills with patients as directed by members of the multi-disciplinary team, for example meal preparation, life skills, clothes shopping, self-esteem work, mirror retraining.
To plan and co-ordinate a programme of care under the supervision of members of the multi-disciplinary team and to facilitate specific groups such as creative groups and sandwich making sessions. To identify patients strengths and needs in order to plan and implement suitable therapy programmes for groups and individual patients. To assess patients need in relation to preparing meals and shopping for food. To evaluate the effectiveness of therapy with patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team in order to modify and adapt interventions.
