Job description
- To ensure a high quality, effective and occupational therapy service within the Elderly Care department.
- To be an occupational therapist with advanced clinical skills in the management of patients in Elderly care for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (RBFT)
- To be responsible for the operational management and clinical leadership of the occupational therapy team in conjunction with the Inter professional Team Lead or Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy
- To use specialist knowledge and advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the occupational therapy team and other healthcare staff
- To manage own caseload of patients with highly complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner
- Drive initiatives and quality improvement projects to improve to constantly improve the service
- To be a member of the Occupational Therapy department leadership team, contributing to delivery of safe and effective services
- Leading on service development, quality improvement planning, and policy development in relevant clinical area
- To deputise for the Inter- professional Lead and Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy as required.

- Providing leadership to the Elderly Care Occupational Therapy Team to ensure they are able to deliver safe and effective services to this clinical area
- To keep abreast of new developments generally within occupational therapy, and within the designated area . To monitor quality of services and facilitate implementation of best practice to improve patient experience and outcomes
- To ensure statutory training is maintained and that there is relevant training for the team, supporting staff to develop their knowledge and skills within their role
- To use expert knowledge to provide specialist teaching on a wide range of topics to the designated team, other occupational therapy and physiotherapy staff and students, and other professionals
