Job description
We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the clinical support team at our Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes Service Centres to work with the local Commissioners to provide an excellent service to the community. This is a Band 4 equivalent role and is open to both part-time and full-time applicants.

The role:
- Work closely with Prescribers and Authorising Managers to promote effective partnership working across Adult Social Care, Therapy Services, Community Nursing, domiciliary care agencies, housing and other agencies as necessary.
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Undertaking triage of self-assessment orders with the Service User / their Carer by phone to support identification of appropriate equipment
- Completing joint visits with CES Trusted Assessor Technician to provide support with complex / challenging assessment visits
- Providing advice via phone to CES Trusted Assessor Technician whilst on site at Service User’s property to identify the most appropriate equipment to meet identified need
- Supporting Clinical Lead with completing equipment audit visits into Care Homes – including any preparation and necessary actions following audit visit
- Reviewing equipment (either by phone or visit) to ensure appropriate for use and ensuring that observations and outcomes are recorded in an appropriate manner (as per local arrangements)
- Carry out assessments and install / demonstrate items of equipment with the Service User / Carer.
- To attend moving and handling training and comply with Millbrook Healthcare policies for manual handling at all times
- Travelling will be necessary within this role across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. It may also require travelling to other Millbrook Service Centres or Head Office on occasion.
About you:
- Previous experience of working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and experience with Community Equipment would be advantageous
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults and / or children
- Knowledge and understanding of manual handling would be advantageous
- Experience of completing or assisting with assessments
- Previous knowledge of the public sector would be an advantage
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn
- Confidence in using databases and ability to learn new systems
- Current full UK driving licence is essential
