Job description

Part-time (up to 10 hours) Self-Employed Occupational Therapy Assistant Wanted.

This is an opportunity to gain experience of working in a unique area of Occupational Therapy: with people experiencing hoarding. My service users often have complex needs with both physical and mental health challenges. Building rapport is essential, as is good risk assessment, good communication skills and empathy. Being non-judgmental and respectful of people’s possessions is essential.

Duties include:

· Attending the Hampshire Hoarding Forum

· Co-facilitating Groups and workshops

· Joint working in people’s homes

· Completing hoarding specific and OT assessments

· Completing risks assessments and identifying safeguarding

· SMART goal setting

· Working in small spaces

· Decluttering and organising, lifting and shifting

· Problem solving and thinking outside the box

· Recycling and dropping donations to charity shops

· Liaising with and making referrals to other professionals

· Dictating notes

· Attending supervision

· Occasional lone working

You will need:

· A driving licence and use of a car with business insurance.

· To be registered as self-employed with a Unique Tax Reference Number.

· Have public liability insurance.

· A current DBS certificate.

· A working smart phone.

In return:

· You will receive a rate of £15 per hour.

· You will receive regular supervision and support.

· You will receive an ID badge.

· You will work in 2 hour sessions between the hours of 9.30 to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday

· You will gain valuable experience.

Most of the work is based in Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
