B4 Occupational Therapist Assistant - Stroke Inpatient Rehab

An exciting new B4 Occupational Therapy Assistant opportunity has arisen on our inpatient stroke unit at Meadow Court.
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant with a passion for stroke rehabilitation to work within NELFT’s Inpatient Stroke Unit based at Meadow Court, Goodmayes. We provide inpatient stroke rehabilitation to people living in the local community with the aim of supporting them to return to their own homes as independent as possible.
You will be working as part of our specialist stroke multi-disciplinary therapy team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists and Speech and Language therapists that input into our 12 bedded stroke unit. As part of this team you will also work alongside doctors, nurses and HCA’s to give specialist stroke intervention.
The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously and have experience of working as a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant or as Band 4 Occupational Therapist Assistant previously, preferably in a therapy rehabilitation setting. You will have excellent communication skills, time management skills with the ability to prioritise and problem solve.
Your role will include assisting patients to regain as much functional independence as possible through working on a patient rehabilitation goal approach. You will have the opportunity to develop understanding and application of the OT process, develop knowledge of different types of equipment and how to assess for these as well as completing assessments and treatment programmes for activities of daily living. You will be involved with joint sessions with therapists and patients, other rehab assistants as well as carrying out sessions independently.
You will be involved in data collection and projects, working closely with therapists to maintain the high standard s of care on the stroke unit and keep in line with stroke standards.

The candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills when communicating with patients, carers and members of staff.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177).
