The Acute Occupational Therapy Team is looking for an highly motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the team. The Acute Occupational Therapy Team are based on the medical and surgical wards covering a range of different specialties. The role is designed to assist the qualified Occupational Therapists with the treatment of patients on the wards and maintain an efficient day-to-day service.
- The post holder will assist in a variety of clinical duties, which will include the implementation of treatment programmes for patients where appropriate.
- To assess for and issue basic occupational therapy equipment, teaching patients and carers of their use.
- To be responsible for monitoring progress of patients and reporting back to ward therapists.
- To progress to being able to assess case simple patients independently and begin discharge planning. Communicate this to the qualified staff.
- To assist in the administration and clerical duties of the Acute Therapy Team to enable the smooth running of the department.
- To work as part of the multi - disciplinary team to ensure smooth timely discharge or transfer of patient to an alternative setting.

- Knowledge of health and safety issues e.g. manual handling, infection control
