Job description
OTA required to support OT and team of Social Workers and Social Care Assessors on the complex care and review team working with learning disabilities and mental health as well as physical disabilities.
The role will involve assessment and recommendations around adaptations and equipment to support independence, minimise risks and reduce over commissioning of care.
We will accept referrals from people without prior OT experience as long as they are committed to learning, work well within a team and are passionate about supporting our client base. Previous experience working with clients with learning disabilities and strength based assessment is preferred.
Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities. West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join this specialist team who work closely with the Adults with Learning Disability social work teams, Transitions team, CHC team, Mental Health teams and colleagues in Commissioning. Office bases are in Ellesmere Port, Chester and Winsford and the expectation is that staff work in the office 1-2 times a week and at home or out on visits the remainder of the week.
The Complex Care and Review team is a small but extremely effective team consisting of a Practice Manager, 2 x Social Workers, 2 x Social Care Assessors and 1 x Occupational Therapist. We are recruiting 2 further Social Workers and an OTA. This is an experienced team of highly motivated, hardworking, and skilled professionals. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate these skills and have a passion to drive forward positive outcomes for individuals regardless of their level of need or stage of life they are in.
We complete reviews taking a ‘whole service/provider’ approach. In doing so they work closely with providers and commissioners to improve the standards of current services. This includes setting clear outcome focused care plans, taking an innovative approach regarding effective use of current services, and scrutinising services to ensure commissioned support is required and being used appropriately in keeping with a person-centred and strength-based approach. Their remit also includes project work, working closely with operational teams and commissioners in the future forecasting of service-user’s needs within CW&C, identifying gaps in services and steering new bespoke commissioning opportunities.
We welcome applications from an OTA, with or without previous experience, who will support the existing OT with assessment, adaptations and ordering equipment.
We would welcome anyone interested in this post to come forward for an informal discussion. Please contact Leah Gilbert, Practice Manager on 07827 823853
