Occupational therapy focuses on empowering people to carry out everyday tasks or occupations with more confidence and independence to improve their health, quality of life and wellbeing in and outside the home. Occupational therapists work with people of all ages with a varied range of medical conditions.

We will support you to gain the training, qualification and experience you need to become an outstanding Occupational Therapist. We will support you to complete your degree in Occupational Therapy, whilst also giving you the opportunity to receive invaluable on-the-job training and experience.

About the job - You will join a team within Adult Social Care services and receive a thorough induction, training and support to eventually enable you to hold your own small caseload. Working under the supervision of a dedicated qualified Occupational Therapist, you will be trained to complete Occupational Therapist tasks, including resident visits, assessments, reviews and support plans and work with a variety of residents, colleagues and external agencies. This is a truly varied job and no day will be the same. At the end of your apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to become a permanent qualified Occupational Therapist in Enfield council.

About the course - Over the course of three years and two months, you will complete BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Hertfordshire. The course will be a combination of study days & work experience. On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to register with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and begin your career as a Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist.

About the person – Entry requirements – You must have a minimum of GCSE grade C or above or equivalent Maths and English (level 2), with excellent communication skills in written English.

  • 5 GCSEs between grades 9-4 (equivalent to grade *A-C) or equivalent qualifications

And to normally include one of the following: GCE A2s (A-levels), Level 3 Apprenticeship in Allied Health, Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level 5 may be considered on an individual basis.

Previous experience of working in Adult Services will also be beneficial.

Candidates who already hold an Occupational Therapist qualification will not be eligible for this post.

Additional Information

  • Applicants should be aware that the post will only be offered to successful candidate’s subject to an Enhanced DBS check as well as other employment clearances.
  • This apprenticeship is full time (36 hours), on a 3-year and two month fixed term contract.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview at Enfield Council.

Stage 2

If you are successful at stage 1, you will be invited to complete an application form for the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship with the University of Hertfordshire, they will then invite shortlisted candidates to an interview & assessment

You must submit your certificates with your application or proof that you have requested copies from the relevant awarding body.
