OT Apprentice Kettering General Hospital. Are you caring, compassionate, motivated and interested in developing your career within the NHS as an Occupational Therapist in Kettering? Then this may be the opportunity for you! This is a 4 Year fixed term contract as follows:
- Year 1 of academic study Band 2 salary
- Year 2 of academic study Band 3 salary
- Year 3 of academic study Band 4 salary
- Year 4 on completion of your degree and successful HCPC registration Band 5 salary preceptorship year
As an employee of KGH you will demonstrate our values, and once you have completed all the requirements for registration as a qualified Occupational therapist, you will become a Band 5 Occupational Therapist within the Trust.
During the apprenticeship you will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to work in today’s dynamic and changing healthcare environment. Whilst you will be based in one specific team, your placements will give you a variety of learning environments working across both internal and external clinical placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of the local healthcare service. As many of our bases are away from public transport routes, it is a requirement of the role that you are able to drive and have access to a car (subject to the provisions of the Equality Act 2010).
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship is a new and innovative route to ‘Learn while you Earn’ and combines 4 years of clinical employment, work based learning, and academic learning.
You will be employed as an Occupational Therapy apprentice at KGH where you will be given dedicated time to work towards a bachelor’s degree in Occupational therapy in conjunction with the University of Northampton. The apprenticeship posts will be placed within specialist therapy teams with a dedicated mentor for the duration of your degree. The specialty areas are frailty, medicine, respiratory and orthopaedics, with an opportunity to acquire skills across the acute setting.
To be considered, you will need 5 GCSE qualifications including English and Maths grade C/level 4 or above or a level 2 functional skills qualification in English and Maths. In addition, we are looking for candidates who hold 3 ‘A’ Levels at grades BBC or above or who have successfully completed an Level 3 Access course and achieved 15 credits at distinction and 30 at merit or an equivalent level 3 qualification i.e. BTEC Extended Diploma graded DDM in a health or science related subject, or T-Level at Merit or Open University with a minimum of 60 credits.
This post is 37.5 hours however all posts will be expected to work across 7 days

Our Therapies Team is a rapidly developing, innovative team providing high-quality assessment and treatment, beginning in A&E, MAU and Urgent Care areas, following patients through to the Medical wards, Orthopaedic and surgical wards as well as outpatient and community settings.
You will join us at Kettering General Hospital KGH), with the opportunity to train to become a qualified Occupational Therapist and gain a BSc Hons degree in Occupational Therapy whilst you work.

You are required to attend an assessment CENTRE study day on 24/06/2023 in partnership with KGH and University of NORTHAMPTON
If you are successful in your application for this position your commencement date will coincide with the Trust’s Induction programme and you will start your university course in September 2023 . Attendance on the full induction programme is a mandatory requirement prior to starting in the work area. Therefore, if parts of this induction fall outside of the normal contracted hours of duty for this position, you will be requested to make arrangements to enable you to fully attend the Induction.
