Occupational Therapy Apprentice

You will work as an Occupational Therapy Assessor playing a critical role in supporting people to develop creative and innovative solutions to meet the outcomes they want to achieve. We would expect you to have experience working with people requiring support and a passion to achieve the best outcomes for people to achieve their independence.

Work as a member of the Community Team providing low level Occupational Therapy intervention to people in need of support. Working alongside other social care staff, identifying where Occupational Therapy can promote an individual’s independence with the aim of them achieving their identified goals.

You will take part in the course through:

• block release, distance learning and placements
• seminars, lectures, tutorials, and practical workshops
• assessment of proficiency in practice
• written and patchwork assignments.
• reflective care studies
• poster and group presentations
• an end-point assessment

• You will train as an Occupational Therapist through our Levy funded three-year apprenticeship programme.

You will have:

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent (Desirable).
• grade 4 (C or above) or the equivalent in Maths and English. Certification evidence of this should be submitted with your application form (Essential).
• Be required to undertake an enhanced DBS plus Adults Barred List (Essential).
• Experience of working with vulnerable people and their carers.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, carers and families.
• Awareness of importance of multi-disciplinary working and an integrated approach.
• Problem solver with good planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to relate to other disciplines in a sensitive and professional manner.
• Some knowledge of assessment and support planning within legislation.
• Ability to cope positively with change and an ability to promote positive changes to make a difference.
• You are confident, energetic and enthusiastic as well as sensitive and resilient.
• Self-motivating individual with the passion to make a difference in adult social care.
• Resilient personal stress management.
