Working hours: full-time 37.5 hours per week

We have a vacancy for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within our Neuro Rehabilitation Service. This is a Nuro rotational position working 37.5 hours per week. Rotations will be across the inpatient acute Neuro, inpatient Neuro rehabilitation and Community/Out-Patient Neuro Rehabilitation settings.

The successful candidate will be supported by experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapists specialising in neuro rehabilitation, and a team of AHP's working at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital.

You will be responsible for managing your own workload and getting involved with service development, whilst having the responsibility of contributing to the overall daily running of the service.

An important part of your role will be liaising with other members of the MDT, both at EPH, the Countess of Chester and within the community setting. You will be expected to apply your knowledge and skills to the management of both younger and older adults with a wide variety of neurological conditions.

As well as having experience, knowledge and skills in this area, you also need to be self-motivated, have good time-management, good communication skills and be experienced in supervising staff.

Main duties of the job

  • The assessment and treatment of patients with complex Neurological conditions, including stroke and long-term neurological conditions
  • The supervision and education of more junior staff
  • Work as part of an MDT managing a caseload of patients
  • Be responsible for the input of patients notes on both EMIS and Cerner systems
  • Contribute to service development
  • Be responsible for own learning and seek opportunities to develop knowledge and skills
  • Participate in IST programme to develop own and other's skills
  • Participate in Stroke rota, working 8.30 - 12.30 on a Saturday morning on the acute stroke unit.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
