Working as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor on ABL’s specialist and targeted weight management programme ‘Your Health Oldham’ you will be working with adults and/or families to support, motivate and advise thosewho are currently overweight or obese. You will be passionate about working with individuals to begin the life changing processes necessary for permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance.
You will be joining a large team of behaviour change specialists in ABL Health including Specialist Healthy Lifestyle Advisors, nutritionists, dietitians, GP’s, psychotherapists and exercise specialists to deliver evidence based, holistic and realistic weight management to people in the community.
You will understand challenges and barriers that adults face with relation to their health (both physical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a good rapport with adults from varying communities across Oldham.
You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as supporting the development of new nutrition and exercise programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering motivational change which is client centered. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, public health, community health or adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.
At ABL Health we don’t believe in diets but promote long term sustainable change which focuses on evidence-based principles of healthy living.
Some of the essential criteria for the role:
- Degree in nutrition and registered with Association for Nutrition (AFN), either Registered Associate Nutritionist or a Registered Nutritionist or at least 7 years working in nutrition science.
- Experience of delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings
- CIMSPA (previously REPS) qualified Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent
- Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people.
- Excellent administration, record keeping and data collection skills.
- Pro-active approach and ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to manage stressful situations and cope in a fast-paced work environment.

- The ability to travel independently across the organisational footprint.
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need including evening and occasional weekend work as required.
