DAY NURSERY MANAGER REQUIRED

FOR A BUSY VILLAGE DAY NURSERY

40 Hours per week

We are a busy 55 place, Day Nursery, looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person, who is committed to the work.

You must be able to work under pressure and have experience in all aspects of managing a day nursery to the highest standard. The role will involve the day-to-day management of the setting, ensuring that the highest quality of care and education are delivered to our children and parents, and as a ‘hands on’ manager you will also be working with the children. You will be responsible for the overall compliance of every aspect of the nursery.

You will need to have a minimum Level 3 or above in Childcare, along with a minimum of 3 years experience within an Early Years Setting. You will need to have a proven track record of managing a team within a childcare environment (minimum 1 year experience), and a thorough understanding of the EYFS and Ofsted requirements. We are keen to receive applications from individuals who are currently working as a Manager or Deputy Manager or who have significant previous experience of working as a Manager or Deputy Manager as this role will require the experience and knowledge to be able to manage all aspects of the setting.

You will need to have a thorough knowledge of the OFSTED requirements and be able to research and have knowledge of the legislation covering the Early Years Sector.

We are looking for a manager who is able to put in place new processes, procedures and structures to further enhance various areas of the nursery.

The following are some of the Nursery Manager’s responsibilities:

Recruitment, training and induction of staff ensuring all staff understand and follow the nursery’s policies and procedures.

Effective staff supervision through reviews and appraisals also offering staff support and guidance to achieve any targets set and to ensure the growth and professional development of all staff as appropriate. To ensure all core training is in place for all staff and to facilitate and manage regular staff meetings.

To manage child occupancy levels to include collecting fees, monitoring and managing debts and maintaining up to date records for all children and parents. To ensure effective communication systems are in place, and followed, for communication between a child’s home and the nursery. Also, to maintain staff ratios and deploy staff effectively.

To work in partnership with parents, carers and with other agencies and organisations to promote positive outcomes for all children. To also ensure that staff develop and maintain a professional relationship with parents and other professionals.

Ensuring Safeguarding procedures are followed, actioning and monitoring all safeguarding and child protection issues, parent issues, complaints, incidents and accidents to ensure that action is taken, and policies and procedures are followed.

To implement and facilitate the overall quality improvement at the nursery and move the business forward.

To ensure that EYFS curriculum and planning is effectively embedded in practice. To ensure that children’s observations, assessments and development records are maintained and that learning journeys are kept up to date. To also monitor staff planning.

To manage the marketing of the nursery to include open days, events with parents, family members and the public, promotions etc.

To complete effective risk assessments for the whole of the nursery to include the nursery building, individual events, outings etc. To also ensure that daily and weekly checks are completed and recorded effectively. To ensure compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety legislation.

To have a working knowledge of HR legislation and to deal with complex staff issues as they arise such as grievances, investigations and disciplinary matters, managing staff absences and staff working patterns and hours in line with the nursery’s policies and procedures.

The role of Nursery Manager is pivotal to the success of the nursery, so this position can be flexible for the right candidate.

Salary is negotiable and dependent upon experience but as a guide £25,000 to £32,000.
