Role Summary:
Collins Aerospace Wolverhampton is looking to recruit a Quality Engineer for the new ‘Next Generation Bevel Gear’ cell machining team. This will be a brand-new ‘state of the art’ facility with significant investment in equipment and new technologies. The role will be based in the new cell to be created in July 2023, initially on dayshift, some overtime will be required.
In the production ramp up phase, the QE will provide support for development work and new cell introduction / APQP requirements, working closely with Lead Manufacturers and Manufacture Engineering, developing new capabilities, and contributing to the overall progression of the project. Following completion of the project, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for routine quality responsibilities, including Problem solving, SRR reduction, Zero Defect strategies and Quality Clinic support. Full training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Initial Launch (Prioritised Project Duties)
- Implementing quality methods to provide evaluations and control systems to satisfy QMS protocols.
- Utilization of APQP and PPAP tools to support product development including:
- Support for Product and Process Risk Analysis tools (PFMEA).
- Evaluation of Process flow charts and process plans.
- Control Plans for prototype builds and full rate production.
- Evaluation of Measurement Systems (MSA).
- Process Capability Studies (Pro-Cert / SPC).
- Compilation of measurement reports (including FAI and PPAP inputs).
- Provision of Quality deliverables for Work Transfer Gate reviews.
- Manufacturing process reviews (MPR).
Ongoing ‘Routine’ Quality Duties (Continuing after project completion)
- First interface with Customer for product related issues.
- Supporting Containment and Quality Clinic Process requirements.
- Leading problem solving (RRCA) and corrective actions for nonconformities.
- Reduction of Scrap Rework and Repair
- Developing Zero Defect Plans (ZDP).
- Continuous improvement projects and events related to quality requirements.
- Carrying out all activities in accordance with the EH&S procedures.
Person Specification:
- 2+ years’ experience in quality – with ability to identify and resolve problems using Quality tools.
- NVQ Level 3 or HNC or Foundation Degree (Preferred)
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Resilient (to challenges faced) and focussed on improvement opportunities.
