Full Time Richmond, London, England 29835 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

About the role:

Working alongside the Principal Researcher Northern Ireland Records, you will respond to requests in relation to closed and open historical information relating to Troubles-related incidents held by The National Archives. The role requires an individual with knowledge of the Northern Ireland Troubles. You must be an individual capable of managing a heavy workload to ensure The National Archives meets its legal obligations under The Victims’ Payments Regulations 2020.

You will use knowledge of Northern Irish history and the Troubles, coupled with judgement and research skills to locate information to support applications to the Victims’ Payment Board. You will negotiate with government departments to secure the release of relevant information to the Victims’ Payment Board. You will assist in coordinating, monitoring and tracking the requests and correspondence with the Victims’ Payment Board to ensure that requests are processed appropriately with all request data managed properly.

About you:

The role requires you to have a good understanding of the Troubles, the ability to carry out research to identify relevant records, analyse content and summarise findings clearly and concisely, with consistency, impartiality and integrity.

You will have good decision making and communication skills, as well as the ability to organise a potentially heavy, sensitive and demanding workload, working to tight deadlines. Some cases may be complex and/or of a highly personal and sensitive nature, which will require careful handling and escalation. You will therefore need to be flexible, organised and motivated in your approach to meet the demands of this role.
