Job Title: Marketing Segment Specialist

Location: Base location can be flexible either Reading or any other Thales sites location within the UK; but will need to be flexible to travel to Thales & Customer facilities/locations within the UK and the wider North Europe region.

Thales Banking and Payment Solutions (BPS) Business Line is part of a larger Thales group employing 81,000 people globally. Marketing Segment Specialist is part of the Field Marketing team which is the business line’s core marketing connection point to the sales force. The team builds and executes the market strategy to support business goals for Thales Banking and Payment business line in the Regions.

You will enjoy having this responsibility:

  • The Marketing Segment Specialist identifies market opportunities in cooperation with the regional sales managers, and works with the product teams to align on opportunities to pursue and to make sure we have the products and services needed to address these opportunities.

  • As a product and market expert, the Market Segment Specialist drives strategy for the region through product choice, pricing, channel and promotions.

  • As a market owner, the Specialist collaborates with sales and product marketing to develop strategies for growth and is the front line to plan and deliver local sales enablement activities including account focused marketing.

  • The Marketing Segment Specialist is the voice of the customer/market within the business line and the voice of the company to customers/market.

It also involves the following tasks:

  • You are responsible for defining and implementing the marketing plans to pursue the targeted opportunities.

  • In particular, developing business and go-to-market partnerships to support Thales modern card issuance platform.

  • Where needed the Market Segment Specialist identifies regional go-to-market partners to complement Thales’ products and capabilities for the targeted opportunities.

  • Identify market opportunities and ensure sales and product team awareness’ of products and roadmaps as well as market opportunities and needs.

  • Will be required to lead the justification for capital investment and new product developments to facilitate strong market position in the UK & Europe.

  • Provide input to identifying customer targets, build promotion plans and measure progress against targets.

  • Partner with Marketing Communications and Product Marketing to capitalize on social media presence and create relevant print and digital content.

  • Liaise between sales and product teams on market needs and product availability.

  • Define marketing plans with sales managers in line with market needs and product roadmaps.

  • Contribute to building and enriching sales pipeline and target account lists and drive account planning processes.

  • Identify strategic partners that can complement Thales’ products and capabilities in the market.

  • Build marketing materials and value propositions for targeted customer segment.

In conjunction with the sales team:

  • Must build account based marketing activities for growth which includes but not limited to gap analysis, product recommendations, price tactics, value propositions and promotions.

  • Support lead generation through qualification and pipeline acceleration.

  • Will be responsible for customer offers including RFPs.

  • Must promote the company and products at customer meetings and events through expert discussions and presentations.

In conjunction with finance:

  • Will be responsible to size deals and prepare Profit & Loss analysis for all deals and the respective internal approvals.

You have:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree with focus on business (administration) or engineering.

  • In-depth market understanding in the banking or payment sector, experience with modern card issuance would be a benefit.

  • You need to have a strong knowledge of payment card issuance operations and business model.

  • Strong capability in developing and creating go-to-market strategies.

  • Experience in partnering with the direct sales team and partnership teams, ensuring optimal pipeline coverage, acceleration, and alignment.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated capabilities in deducing marketing and sales measures.

  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple projects and follow through on deadlines.

  • Very good communication and presentation skills in English.
