Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to become a part of delivering Wales’ national programme to restore peatlands to address the Nature and Climate Emergencies. A primary focus of the programme is restoration groundworks projects via a variety of mechanisms and the programme includes the development of Wales-wide reporting procedures to enable reporting to WG against delivery targets.
Working as the data and GIS specialist, you will be responsible for undertaking strategic and complex programmes of data analysis, data validation, and evidence synthesis. You will be using GIS and other platforms to inform and implement NRW’s National Peatland Action Programme, and to provide quality-assured analytical outputs for inclusion in national reports and indicators. You will work with technical experts across the organisation and with a range of stakeholders and partner organisations involved in monitoring and analytical work.
Knowledge and experience of the following:
You will have significant experience and knowledge in one or more areas of data analysis, evidence synthesis, and data management, and a sound understanding of statistical methods and use of statistical and spatial analysis applications (including R and ESRI).
You will have previous experience of leading and managing technical projects.
You will be a good communicator.
You will have well-developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract key information and present this in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences and in both written and oral forms.
