To better serve our communities across East London, we have recently rolled out a new 24-hour operating model at our Walthamstow Care Centre meaning we are now seeking Ambulance Funeral Service Operatives to join our Service Delivery Lead Jim Gilbey and his dedicated team of funeral service professionals.
What Will I Be Doing?
Our Ambulance Funeral Service Operatives work in teams to fulfill a 24/7 rota and are primarily responsible for bringing the deceased into our care from the place of death, providing care for the deceased, and providing transport to and from funeral homes. Our Care Centre is the centre hub of our operation which provides a service to our client-facing branches across North East London. The smooth operation of our Care Centres is essential to meeting the needs of our clients through timely and efficient transportation and respectful care of the deceased, as well as fulfilment of quality funerals by providing a capable and equipped team on the day.
Duties will include:
Managing all transfers of deceased including into our Care Centres, funeral homes, places of worship, private residence, and any other third-party premises, organising relevant documentation, and dealing with third parties (e.g., police).- Participate in the care of the deceased, including preparation, first rites, dressing, and encoffining as required.
- Always maintain excellent standards of vehicle cleanliness and operating efficiency.
- Ensure vehicles are stocked and fuelled as required and that safety checks are carried out.
What Do I Need?
A full UK driving license (manual) and ideally familiar with local geography- Good level of physical fitness, as this role will involve heavy lifting duties
- The necessary documentation for a basic DBS, reference & driving license check.

Our ambulance crews will work in shifts, covering Monday - Friday in the following shift pattern:
Week 1 & 2 - 6 am - 2 pm
Week 3 & 4 - 2 pm - 10 pm
Week 5 - 10 pm - 6 am
What do you get?
An annual salary of £32,775.00 (including night shift allowance)- Weekend overtime @ £24.24 per hour ( 1 x 12 hour shift per month mandatory)
- Accruing 22 - 25 days holiday + bank holidays
