About the Role

In this role you are employed by North Staffs Mind but, as this is part of the Non-IAPT service, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within MPFT.

Thirteen hours per week will be allocated to work directly with a caseload of clients, where you will provide 1:1 counselling for people who have a range of emotional problems that can benefit from counselling in primary care. You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

You will report to the Services Manager within NS Mind and the Clinical Lead(s) within MPFT. You will line manage the team of Non-IAPT Counsellors and liaise with a multi-disciplinary team that spans three different areas in Staffordshire (Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffs and South Staffs).

About You

The post holder must be able to support staff through line management and supervision, be involved in organising and leading team meetings, drop-ins and away days as well as being involved in workshops. Job title: Non-IAPT Team Coordinator

Reports to: Services Manager (NS Mind)/Clinical Lead (MPFT)

Based at: Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent-with some remote work from home

Hours of work: 28 hours per week (days negotiable)

Salary: Scale point 30 £31,036 gross per annum (£23,486 pro rata gross per annum)

Core Duties

  • Manage a caseload of counselling clients (approx. 9 per week)
  • Be responsible for the line management of the Counselling team in the Non-IAPT service
  • Liaise with NHS Senior Practitioners and Administrators in order to help ensure efficient service delivery
  • Have a thorough understanding of the working practices of each of the three teams (Stoke, North Staffs and South Staffs)
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment where appropriate
  • Take the lead in producing any documentation to support and improve service delivery
  • Undertake any relevant training, as required by NS Mind and/or MPFT
  • Help develop new ideas to improve the service
  • Ensure the service operates in line with the BACP Codes of ethics and Mind’s MQM quality standards
  • Be confident with IT and CRM systems, e.g, IAPTUS and be able to support staff and volunteers in this area as needed
  • Ensure you and the team complete all standard requirements relating to data collection within the service
  • Support with managing waiting lists.
  • Assist with clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations and help to collate and disseminate results for feedback
  • Work closely with team members ensuring appropriate allocation and handover arrangements are in place to maintain an effective integrated team approach

Training and Supervision

  • Undertake own clinical supervision
  • Provide and assist with regular peer supervision for Counsellors
  • To assist in the professional and clinical supervision of trainee and volunteer counsellors as required
  • To provide advice and consultation to other members of the service in order to aid decisions about the appropriate allocation/treatment of clients as necessary
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training
  • Ensure the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, both personally and within the service through active participation in and contribution to CPD training and development programmes, reading journals and regularly reviewing websites
  • Maintain a continuing professional development log as specified by the BACP good practice guidelines
