Job description
James Hutton Limited are looking for a Non-Executive Director to participate fully in the activities of the Board and Hutton Group Board Sub-Committees, where appropriate, to ensure that the organisation meets its commitments to stakeholders. This will be a 3 year appointment.
The main duties of the role to help achieve this are:
- Participate in all meetings according to accepted rules of order ensuring that decisions are reached in an orderly, timely and democratic manner
- Be aware of and fulfil governance responsibilities and conduct Board business effectively and efficiently
- Work closely with the Chair and other Board members to ensure JHL. delivers its strategy, monitoring and ensuring progress
- Hold the JHL Executive to account ensuring the Company is managed effectively, ensuring solvency and safeguarding assets and adherence to HR policies and guidance
- Ensure compliance with EU and UK legal requirements including employment, H&S, intellectual property and information rights laws
- Ensure compliance with company laws by ensuring internal control systems are in place, risks are managed, responsibilities delegated appropriately
- Engagement with stakeholders
The successful candidate will demonstrate and meet the following:
- Ability to operate at Board Level
- Held a Senior role in a commercial or entrepreneurial organisation preferably in agri-food/tech, natural product, carbon and related sectors.
- Experience of building effective commercial relationships including the generation of income or with excellent sales and marketing experience
- A strong commitment to equality and diversity
