Currently, the offer is a three-program stream: Living Streets, Seniors on The Move (SOTM), and The Bicycle Valet.

Our Programs:
Living Streets promotes walking to enrich and experience public space, creating community ties, as a feasible way of transportation, and a catalyst for physical and mental health. It is a program that identifies opportunities for education and public engagement in the pedestrian realm.
The Bicycle Valet provides free and secure bicycle/active transportation parking across Metro Vancouver.
Seniors on the Move is a seniors-led, systems-charge project that aims to increase transportation options for older adults and others who do not drive, which BEST co-manages with United Way B.C.
BEST has been partnering with Translink providing support in managing and promoting Translink’s sustainable transportation initiatives. Translink is the organization’s largest stakeholders.

Duration: This position is available as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program and is offered for a short-term employment period. The remuneration will be in accordance with the program's guidelines.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Fundraising Organizer, specializing in grant writing, donations strategy, and membership management. As a Fundraising Organizer, you will play a pivotal role in securing financial resources and managing memberships to support our organization's mission and programs. This position is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program, which provides an opportunity for students or youth to gain valuable work experience during the summer months.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Writing:
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder guidelines and requirements.
- Collaborate with program managers and staff to gather relevant information for grant applications.
- Track and maintain a comprehensive database of grants, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor progress of grant applications and coordinate with funders as needed.
Donations Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive donations strategy to attract individual and corporate donors.
- Create compelling campaigns, appeals, and fundraising materials to effectively communicate our mission and impact.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, keeping them engaged and informed about our organization's work.
- Explore new avenues for donor acquisition, including online platforms, events, and partnerships.
- Monitor and analyze donation trends, providing regular reports and recommendations to improve fundraising efforts.
Membership Management:
- Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and engage members.
- Create and manage membership programs, benefits, and renewal processes.
- Maintain accurate membership records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Plan and execute membership recruitment drives and retention initiatives.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure members receive relevant communications and updates.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or recently graduated from a relevant program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to write persuasive grant proposals and funding applications.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
- Experience with membership management, including database management and communications.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector and awareness of current trends in philanthropy and fundraising.
Eligibility Criteria:
Age Requirement: Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
Citizenship/Immigration Status: Candidates must be either:
a. Canadian citizens,
b. Permanent residents of Canada, or
c. Persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, for the duration of the employment.
Work Authorization: Candidates must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
