Job Title: Nomad Centre Manager
Hours: Full Time 37.5hrs/week
Salary: up to £35,000 (depending on skills, experience & qualifications)
Job Purpose:
- To implement all relevant standards, policies and procedures as directed by the Head of Housing Services working within YMCA Lincolnshire’s aims, purpose and mission statement
- To oversee the day-to-day operations of the Nomad Centre and ensure excellence in service delivery.
- To be YMCA Lincolnshire’s voice of our residents, ensuring that they receive a fair service at all times both internally and externally
Duties and Responsibilities
- To take full responsibility for the smooth running of the Nomad Centre enabling people to belong, contribute and thrive within their community. Uphold the mission, vision and values of Lincolnshire YMCA at all times, contributing effectively to the achievement of our strategic ambitions.
- To lead, motivate and inspire a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring they undertake their roles working within professional boundaries, relevant service standards and key performance indicators.
- To proactively recruit, train and retain volunteers to support the delivery of services to the homeless community.
- Liaise with our local partners to maintain and develop services for our clients and uphold the reputation and standing of the Association e.g. Housing Advice agencies, other housing providers, The Local Authority, Citizens Advice Bureau, Health and Addiction Services, Churches, Department of Social Security, Social Services Department, Probation Service, other YMCAs, Careers Department.
- To represent the organisation at professionals meetings and networking events with the aim of promoting our services and actively looking to develop our service offer.
- To ensure the centre is managed and maintained in accordance with a physiological informed environmental team.
- To minimise voids within the targets set by YMCA Lincolnshire and oversee the acceptance, referral, interview and licensee process for the Association in accordance with the Association’s Lettings Policies, ensuring all clients are able to access the services of the YMCA and, when needed, appropriate specialist equipment is available for those who require it to enable clients to feel valued in a safe and secure environment.
- To lead staff in the maximisation of each individuals entitlement to all benefits and ensure clients pay all relevant charges.
- To liaise with staff across the ALL YMCA projects, implementing a seamless transition for clients between The Nomad Centre, to the Hostel and other relevant accommodation, with the aim of moving-on people from emergency accommodation to a more independent living setting.
- To ensure the Health, Safety and security of the building including the monitoring/implementation of the alarms, door entry and CCTV systems.
- To attend regular meetings with the Head of Housing Services and staff team in order to facilitate the smooth running of all the accommodation and identify developments and training needs.
- To liaise with the Head of Housing Services regarding the effective management of the services and the clients residing in the accommodation.
- To ensure the accommodation offered is of an excellent standard and all Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities legislation are maintained.
- To be part of the out-of-hours ‘ON CALL’ rota
- To implement Lincolnshire YMCA’s policies and good practice in line with regulatory requirements set by the Social Housing Regulator.
- To liaise with the maintenance team to ensure the efficient response and repair to all parts of the accommodation.
- Work to further the strategic ambitions of the YMCA.
- To carry out any other duties within the scope of the post as directed by line manager.
Person Specification
- Knowledge and experience of providing support to clients, preferably within a homeless service setting. (Desirable)
- Knowledge of statutory agencies and benefit provision, with particular reference to, DWP, Housing Benefit. (Desirable)
- Housing related qualification would be an advantage. (Desirable)
- Experience of providing leadership and supervision to staff. (Essential)
- Knowledge and experience of managing a day centre service, or similar. (Essential)
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills and confidenceoperating in a diverse environment. (Essential)
- Computer literate in a Microsoft environment. (Essential
- Experience of housing rent accounting systems preferable. (Desirable
- Ability to be flexible and work unsupervised and to manage staff and service efficiently and effectively. (Essential)
- Willing to advocate, encourage, motivate and enthuse staff to support clients to reach their full potential. (Essential)
- Be able to demonstrate a passion of working with vulnerable adults with a track record of delivering successful outcomes. (Essential)
