Job description
As an NLP Data Scientist you will be active across the entire project lifecycle working in Glasgow, UK and can enjoy weekly remote working, e.g. 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.
Our solutions often combine different aspects of NLP; for example, using clustering and summarization to navigate enormous collections of documents, or building custom sentiment and recommendation models to put the right news in front of the right people at the right time. We're pragmatic enough to use TF-IDF and logistic regression where that does the job but also leverage Deep Neural Networks as needed.
Job responsibilities
- Frame problems and shape solutions with internal technology and business stakeholders
- Conduct research into where cutting-edge technology and techniques could be used effectively
- Analyze data, train models and prototype systems to prove out those ideas
- Build well-designed data products that add value with in-house engineering teams
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in NLP (traditional and ML-based) and/or in the analysis of unstructured data
- Good understanding of relevant algorithms and data structures
- Familiarity with Python and the associated data science ecosystem
- Background in mathematics, statistics or computer science (or similar)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Research experience in AI/ML (e.g. a relevant MSc or PhD degree)
- Experience working in financial services and an awareness of risk and regulatory concerns
- Prior exposure to or awareness of the design, development and maintenance of production software systems
