Our bright, clever 12-year-old client is looking for a Support Worker to join her team. B is non-verbal but has a great understanding of her wants and needs which she is able to communicate using blinking and Eye Gaze. She is a happy and loving girl who lives with her family and pet dog in a busy and lively home, and she forms strong bonds with her support team.
The Role/Client:
- B has complex needs including Cerebral Palsy and requires full time 2 to 1 care. She is a wheelchair user and requires assistance with all activities of daily living including full personal care.
- B requires regular suctioning and is on a fully blended diet fed via her gastrostomy.
- If you don’t have this already, you will be provided with full on the job training in administration of medications, suctioning, feeding and digestion and moving and handling.
- Staff will be required to spend a little time with B before she goes to bed, so this can include a relaxing quiet activity or watching a little bit of tv. B requires hourly checks in person for her SATs as well as her coughs throughout the night, so staff would need to be monitoring B via her monitor screen at all times and go into her room when needed. B also has her meds at around 8:45/9pm, 11pm and in the morning when she wakes as well as her physio routine in the morning.
About You:
- You will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in Care.
- We are looking for someone who works well in a team and is hard working, has a great sense of humour, is empathetic and has a strong dedication to caring for others. You will be an outgoing person with good communication skills.
- You will be flexible and a good timekeeper.
- B has a younger sibling who might be around before B goes to bed, you will be comfortable with interaction with her sibling whilst preparing B for her night-time routine.
- The family have a lively dog so you will be a dog lover with no allergies.
Pay:
- £15 per hour Weekdays.
- £17 per hour Weekends.
- £30 per hour Bank Holidays.
Hours / Shifts: 11 Nights per month to be worked on a rota basis. Rota will be made up to 6 month’s in advance.
