Responsibilities
Clinical:
As an NHS care assistant with Florence, you’ll:
Perform a full range of care assistant duties.
Assess and evaluate residents and care recipients.
Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Monitor residents frequently when appropriate.
Document incidents in line with NHS and Florence policy.
Escalate concerns to your supervisor and/or Florence where required.
Recognise signs of deterioration in a resident or care recipient.
Alert senior colleagues if you’re concerned about a resident or care recipient.
Maintain accurate, timely and legible care records when required.
Communicate effectively with other staff members, the multidisciplinary team, residents and relatives.
Nurture good relationships with other team members.
Professional:
You’ll stick to the Florence Professional Standards of Dress policy, and:
Communicate respectfully with the team members and managers.
Escalate concerns in a competent, informative way.
Maintain professional standards in line with national guidance.
Education/training:
So that you can learn and grow in your role, you will:
Complete all statutory and mandatory training to make sure you stay compliant with the Florence platform.
Take the initiative to upskill whenever you can.
Welcome information technology and medical equipment training, which will help you maintain high care standards.
Health and safety:
In line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, you have a duty to:
Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, plus the health and safety of anyone who might be affected by what you do or don’t do at work.
Work with the management team to make sure you comply with all Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures while at the care facility.
Data protection:
As an NHS care assistant with Florence, you’ll respect the confidentiality of information at all times in line with the Data Protection Act. You’ll keep sensitive information safe and immediately escalate data safety concerns and data protection or GDPR breaches.
About you
We’re looking for NHS care assistants with at least six months of care work experience, ideally in a health and social care setting. If you love to learn and have evidence of ongoing professional development, that’s a plus.
You’ll also have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to take direction and work effectively under supervision.
- Safe, effective moving and handling skills.
- An in-depth understanding of the health and social care sector.
- A thorough knowledge of infection prevention practices.
- Evidence of ongoing adult support and protection/safeguarding skills.
- An excellent attendance record.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- The ability to travel.
