Job description
To prepare the Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s ambulances, rapid response cars and patient transport vehicles to an approved standard, which includes the deep cleaning of such vehicles to an infection control standard. To test all medical equipment deployed on the Trust’s vehicles to ensure such equipment is fit for purpose and in working order, to replace all used or broken Make Ready packs and to replace the response bags with repacked and ready to use sealed bags. To recognize their role within the overall team and to assist that team to achieve its overall objective of meeting the Trust’s expectations.
- To receive, read and comply with the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures and Risk assessments relating to ambulance vehicle movements and exterior washing in ambulance stations and vehicle manoeuvring areas.
- To Make Ready ambulance service vehicles in accordance with the Make Ready training.
- To check medicine bag quantities and report low levels immediately.
- To ensure all medical devices and equipment are fully functional and is fit for duty and working in accordance with the Make Ready training
- To maintain the garage and stores areas in a clean and tidy state at all times, and ensure the sluice area is cleaned daily.
- To make up Make Ready packs of consumables for deployment on ambulance service vehicles. Ensure stock is rotated and recycled and appropriate stock levels are maintained.
- To carry out a first use inspection of all ambulance service vehicles prior to issue to a member of the Trust.
- To complete and forward the OSD Allocation sheets at the start of each day.
- To raise any issue of concern regarding the Standard Operating Procedures immediately with the Make Ready Supervisor and/or the Make Ready Contract Manager immediately. Until a resolution is agreed the operative must comply with the procedure.
- To comply with all Health and Safety requirements stipulated by the Company.
- To report any defects on ambulance service vehicles to the Make Ready Supervisor immediately or the customer’s representative.
- To make sure the crews are aware of, and take, the appropriate Make Ready vehicle for each shift.
- To act sensibly at all times and pay due regard to other activities being undertaken on Ambulance Station by both CSS and our customer’s employees.
- To work as a team member and be flexible in your approach. However that flexibility must never exceed your level of competence or authority.
- To actively take part in training as stipulated by the Company and the NHS Trust.
- To co-operate at all times with our customer and its staff.
