Overview of the role
Incisive Media’s leading publication Professional Adviser is looking for a diligent and enthusiastic news editor with at least three years of relevant experience to join its dynamic team. Professional Adviser is a specialist digital publication providing the latest news, analysis and feature content for the financial advice community across the UK. Guided by the editor and deputy editor, the news editor will take a confident lead in managing the news desk, breaking news and assigning stories to reporters. The news editor will also manage content for our email alerts.
Alongside writing news stories, the news editor will also regularly write features focusing on major industry themes, exclusive research and interviews with key figures in the financial advice space.
The news editor will be expected to build their contacts book and profile in the advice sector, as well as represent the brand at external events.

What we value
- An undergraduate degree and/or qualifications in journalism, media studies or communications
- At least three years’ experience in either finance journalism or journalism at a B2B publisher. This job would suit a senior reporter who wants to take the next step to news editor.
- Ability to write accurate copy to a high standard
- Initiative to develop the role and help broaden and deepen our news coverage
- Proven track record of seeking out off-diary and exclusive news stories.
- Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team and help junior reporters
- Experience of meeting short and long-term deadlines
- Knowledge of the UK financial services industry
- Enthusiasm to try new things and grow your skills
