The New Arab is a top English-language digital media outlet focused on authentic coverage of news, current affairs, and culture and lifestyle stories from the Middle East and North Africa region and beyond. In your role as a journalist, you will report on relevant stories from MENA and beyond in compelling and authoritative English, working with our team of journalists, reporters, editors, producers, designers, and social media specialists to deliver high-quality, credible, in-depth coverage in line with TNA's core editorial values and mission, leveraging the latest in digital journalism tools. The position is a full-time, London-based role. Our offices are in an exciting location on Uxbridge Road, Ealing, West London, a few minutes away from the high street, movie studios, and numerous restaurants and facilities. Responsibilities: To cover news and current affairs from our area of coverage Working in close coordination with editors to tackle relevant stories that matter Produce high-quality journalism written in compelling and smooth-flowing English Closely follow developing stories and provide updates, analysis, and engaging storytelling to keep our audience informed To work with other departments (multimedia, translation, Arabic teams) to enrich your journalism through maps, info graphs, video, audio, and data storytelling Requirements: Must have a full right to work in the UK Native-level English language skills. You are expected to be able to write clearly and accurately with complete comprehension skills An understanding of English language audiences interested in the MENA region. Ability to source ideas for coverage through experience, network of sources A thorough understanding of journalism ethics and media law including contempt, libel, and copyright Deep interest in the Middle East and knowledge of key political issues and players shaping the MENA region Qualification in journalism or related field Desirable: A command of Modern Standard Arabic. You would never be required to write in Arabic but will be required to be able to read and converse with Arabic sources.
