New Business Development Role – May 2023
Plant Designs are London’s foremost design-led plant experts, providing quality horticultural services to workplaces and events.
We design, install, and care for some of the city’s most innovative interior landscapes, working with over 350 clients to bring the benefits of planting to their buildings. We pride ourselves on our award-winning plant displays and our ability, through the commitment and experience of our team, to care for them.
As a company, we are made up of three departments: Commercial/Office planting, Retail and Events. The team work together across these areas to provide our clients with a quality and broad ranging horticultural service.
The Role:
We are looking for a focused and energetic Salesperson, with a passion for live events and horticultural design, to join our rapidly expanding Business Development team.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong understanding of sales processes and the ability to excel at generating leads, building relationships, and closing deals.
Objectives & Responsibilities:
- Represent Plant Designs products and services, adhering to our core principles and contributing to achieve periodic sales targets and KPIs.
- Develop an in-depth product knowledge and be able to speak with confidence on Plant Designs services to different type of clientele.
- To build relationships with major influencers and companies within the events and commercial property sectors, to create new business opportunities.
- Regular site visits for meetings and presentations with prospective clients.
- Work with in-house graphic design team to prepare concise and accurate proposals, presentations, and other required documents.
- Coordinate with senior sales team to ensure that targets are being met and core principles are always upheld.
- Work with Client Managers to encourage growth of our services to existing clients.
- Working with our Horticultural Manager to develop your plant knowledge.
- Working with Production team on large scale designs to ensure aesthetics and structural elements are aligned.
- Regular attendance at networking events and trade shows to grow existing network of connections in key industries.
- Being reactive to inbound enquiries as well as developing your own leads.
Candidate skills and experience:
- 3+ years of sales experience.
- Experience in working to and exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills.
- A quick learner with the initiative to work both independently and in a team.
- Personable and professional.
- Proficiency with sales management software and CRM.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, namely PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong ability to balance persuasion with professionalism.
- Strong ability to create opportunities and manage own time/tasks.
- Ability to understand floorplans and drawings.
This is a full-time role based in Central London, working between our Farringdon office/showroom and client sites. Basic salary £30,000, rising to £32,000 after 3 months’ probation plus commission (OTE £50,000+).
