Job description
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps.
But Scottish Water does. Frankly, it’s all we think about.
Join our NSO Customer Facing Team in the Tay area and you’ll help our teams make sure Scotland has a constant supply of safe, high-quality water.
What you’ll do
Problem-solver extraordinaire, you’ll make quick, accurate work of customer enquiries and network operations – helping fix any water supply problems. That might include turning your hand to valve shut-offs, identifying bursts, maintaining street infrastructure, and more.
No two days are quite the same, but you’ll set the plan and prioritise activities for the maintenance squads. You’ll also make sure tasks are completed, verify timesheets and generally provide guidance on site.
You’ll collect relevant data, report on customer issues and send out key notices for shut-offs, technical requirements, GIS drawing updates, and so on. You’ll know your bylaws from your codes of practice, so you can explain what’s what to customers.
Now and then you’ll carry out sampling on bursts, or customer complaints to make sure every last drop is compliant with regulatory requirements.
What you’ll bring
You’ll know how the water network operates – bringing knowledge of DOMS policies, reviewing risk assessment method statements, and hygiene code.
You’ll always have your health and safety hat on to keep the team and customers safe. Top-notch communication skills are essential too – our customers will turn to you for the information they need.
You’ll need a valid driving licence, but we’ll provide the wheels. As part of the team, you’ll take your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours work too. Ideally, you will also have HAUC specification for the reinstatement of opening in roads.
What you’ll get:
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
The salary band for this role is £24,741 - £35,566 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
You can also expect:
- 38 days of holiday per year (including public holidays) with the option to buy 5 more
- Eligibility to join the defined benefit, contributory pension scheme
- Annual company bonus
- Life assurance scheme
- Paid time off for community volunteering
- Access to "SW Splash", saving you money on holidays, bills and shopping
- Excellent family friendly policies around Adoption, Maternity, Parental Leave, and Flexible Working
The closing date for applications is the 24th May 2023
