The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, network support engineer to join our team. You will be primarily working on our busy service desk, answering queries via phone, email & instant message from our wide range of network and wireless support customers.
As a network support engineer, you should have a solid technical background in both wireless and networking, combined with excellent customer service experience. A problem-solving attitude with the ability to work individually and as part of a technical team.
The Person
You will have at least 2 years in a previous wireless or networking role, with experience in working ticket queues, managing SLAs, and providing technical solutions. You can speak confidently to both technical and business users and translate customer requirements into solutions. You are keen to learn new skills and products with a genuine passion for wireless and networking technologies.
Highly Desirable:
· Proven work experience on a Service desk
· Previous experience working for a managed service provider (MSP)
· Hands on experience with service desk and remote-control software
· Solid technical background with an ability to give instructions to a non-technical audience
· Customer-service oriented with a problem-solving “can do” attitude
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Experience with configuration both Wide and local area networks (LAN/WAN)
· Experience with configuring firewalls, port forwarding, inbound & outbound firewall policies, NAT rules and Subnetting
· Experience setting up VPN including both remote dial in and site to site
· Experience with configuration and support of wireless networks
· Experience with Aerohive/Extreme Networks (Classis on prem, HMOL, NG, VM &XIQ), VLANs, routing, switching
· Experience with Radius configuration and setting up 802.1x policies
· Experience with configuring routers (PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP) and basic networking protocols, DHCP, DNS, ARP, QOS etc
Extreme Wireless Cloud Accreditation and Fortinet NSE4 Accreditation
Beneficial:
· Experience with TOPdesk
· Experience with Aerohive CVG configuration
· Product experience in Fortinet, SonicWall, Aruba, Cisco, or Palo Alto
· Experience with Migrations from Aerohive Platforms to XIQ
Operating Hours
· Working 5 days per week
· 8.5 Hour shifts with 1 hour lunch break
· Flexible working on site, at home or in office
· Some out of hours support/onsite work may be required
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
