Job description

  • Secondment opportunity / fixed-term until 31st March 2024 to cover the secondment of the substantive postholder.
  • Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. The secondment request form and the associated secondment policy can be found on the HR/Recruitment intranet pages and must be completed and signed by the substantive line manager. The Candidate should then take it with them to interview as confirmation that an agreement has been granted.

The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership Health Improvement Service team as a Health Improvement Officer. The Health Improvement Service has recently transitioned into the Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership and is in the process of a period of exciting change and development. This generic role is responsible for supporting the delivery of a broad range of health improvement programmes associated with the Service.

Key skills we are looking for:

We are looking for a dynamic individual with skills and experience in partnership working, project management and evaluation. They will be expected to deliver improved health outcomes through locality working, supporting a system wide focus on reducing health inequalities, working in partnership through place based approaches to address complex problems and deliver a positive focus on prevention and early intervention. The ability to foster strong professional relationships, encourage collaboration between key stakeholders including local communities, break down organisational silos and bring sectors together around a shared ambition is pivotal in this role. The post holder will have a high degree of autonomy and need to demonstrate initiative and ability to prioritise, holding high standards for themselves and others with excellent attention to detail.

We are looking for the candidate to demonstrate a sound understanding of the health improvement policy agenda and have excellent project, partnership working and people management skills. In addition, experience of outcome driven programmes is valuable. The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a relevant specialist area.

Roles and responsibilities:

Alongside the operational delivery of a local health improvement programme of work, the successful candidate will contribute to gathering data on evidence informed health improvement practice through a locality based approach. The post holder will also contribute to budget planning, service development, Public Health Priorities and local plan priorities.
