Wessex Internet is a dynamic and fast-growing Internet Provider in the South West that is changing the way full fibre broadband is rolled out in rural areas. We design, build, and manage our own 3000km FTTP (Fibre to the Property) network in-house and are one of the leading suppliers making use of several Government funded voucher programmes. We are excited to be extending our network and bringing full fibre broadband to over 10,000 homes and businesses in the New Forest with connection aimed for February 2024.

The Role
Working within the Network Engineering Team you will be integral to the growth and development of the company’s network, supporting the planning and design, and configuration of the network on a day-to-day basis. In addition, you will provide a 3rd line escalation function for escalation of technical issues from the 2nd Line Network Engineering Team.
The successful candidate will need to be proactive and enjoy working independently as well as part of a team to maintain the network.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical escalation to the NOC Manager and the 1st line support team
- Conduct network upgrades as appropriate
- Write HLD and LLDs for the various network projects & programmes
- Configuration and installation of network equipment and protocols across the network
- Liaise with other departments, working to ensure technical aspects of network expansion are delivered on schedule and to expected standards
- Provide pre-sales technical support to the Sales team
- Carry out emergency and scheduled maintenance across the Wessex Internet network
- Provide ‘out of hours’ cover as a point of escalation for 1st line network engineers
- Adherence with Health & Safety legislation and Wessex Internet SHE requirements
- Update and maintain from an application perspective all network monitoring and management systems
- Provide fault analysis and troubleshooting of trouble tickets
- Work with 3rd line support and any 3rd party on root cause analysis investigation
- Work with 3rd party support teams to ensure the effective maintenance of the network
- Work with the CTO on development of tools and services to enhance the management of the network
Requirements
- Confidence to work independently on live network environments
- Previous experience of working in a Service Provider Network
- Great communication and customer service skills
- Extensive knowledge of the telecoms industry
- Takes a proactive approach to problem solving in a team environment
- Honesty and reliability
- The ability to work on your own initiative with strong self-organisational skills
- A strong willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving processes
- Must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months
- Punctuality and work efficiently and effectively

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Role Type: Full Time/Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week with on-call requirement
Location: Office based near Blandford Forum, Dorset
Office Status: Flexible (3+ days office based)
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
