Spinwell is recruiting for a Network Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE NETWORK ENGINEER
- Deliver high quality network documentation from conceptual level through to detailed low-level configurations, in support of RRP initiatives.
- Delivery all documentation in line with Rosa ways of working. This includes using Rosa Templates, Microsoft Visio and the Atlassian toolset including Jira and Confluence.
- Setup, configuration and management of IP-based networks and physical switching and routing devices, including patch and cable management.
- Technical troubleshooting of issues identified during solution testing, creating recommendations for resolutions.
- Deliver and present high-quality presentations and supporting documentation to the Rosa Technical Design Authority. You will justify your design decisions characterised by high levels of risk, impact and complexity.
- Work with Principal Engineers and Architects to produce accurate plans for the delivery of enhanced network features and capabilities.
- Track, manage and document delivery to the agreed timelines using the Rosa toolsets, standards, and guidance (including the Atlassian toolsets including Jira and Confluence).
- Using the working principles outlined above you will contribute to the delivery of strategic initiatives within the agreed timelines.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE NETWORK ENGINEER
- You will be integrated as part of the RRP squad approach providing network engineering services into ‘Infrastructure, DevOps and Identity’ within the RRP.
- You will work with the RSO Principal Engineer/Technical Lead for RRP to maintain standards and quality expectations.
- You will deliver improvements, upgrades and new features and capabilities to the network estate.
- You will contribute to strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps for network technologies, making sure that they are future-proofed and that the organisation derives maximum value from investment in those technologies.
- You will work with Delivery Managers, Principal Engineers, and Architects to deliver accurate costings for delivery of network improvements and new features/capability.
- You will ensure that network services and products are aligned to industry best practice and regulatory and contractual requirements.
- You will work to (and have experience of) cross-domain principles and demonstrate awareness of the standard constraints and limitations that this imposes.
- You will work to (and have experience of) similar zero-trust architecture patterns / design, understand how best to install, configure, and deploy, and demonstrate awareness of the standard constraints and limitations that this imposes.
- Experience and Technologies
- You will have experience in secure, resilient network architecture and expert technical hands-on network experience.
- You will have experience of VMware networking and security virtualisation in particular NSX and including V to T migrations.
- You will have experience of hardware based network high-grade cryptography and in particular implementing in a high threat environment.
- You will have experience of designing and implementing Juniper networks including Junos OS for automating network operations.
- You will have experience of implementing and managing Palo Alto firewalls particularly in high-speed data centre scenarios.
- You will have experience in documenting network configurations and creating runbooks. You will have experience contributing to HLD’s, LLDs and configuration documentation in relation to SD-DC, Core DC Fabrics, DC Interconnects, LAN, WAN, VPN’s, and Firewalls.
- You will demonstrate an understanding of information security and the types of security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within network solutions and services.
- You will have a proven track record for delivering large-scale IT projects, with direct responsibility for designing and implementing highly available and resilient network solutions.
- You can show a thorough understanding of the network technical concepts required for the role, and can explain how these fit into the wider technical landscape. This includes zero-trust networks, micro-segmentation, automation, least privilege etc.
