Salary: up to £50,000 per annum + car (or car allowance), fuel card, phone, laptop, benefits package, overtime and certified training
Comms-care, part of the Ingram Micro Group is a market leading and award-winning IT service provider specialising in IT Support Services, Managed IT Services & Professional IT Services. Comms-care is looking to add an experienced technical consultant specialising in wireless into the Enterprise team.
The Role:
The Technical Consultant specialising in Wireless, works within the Technical Services Department and is responsible for providing the technical skills to support our customers both onsite and remotely. On a day to day basis, they are focused on design and employment of Cisco (Aruba) wireless solutions.
You will have a history of delivering wireless solutions across the entire project lifecycle, including:
- Wireless site survey
- End to end lifecycle support including pre-sales, design, planning, implementation and support
You will hold vendor professional certifications and be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge. The ability to cross train to other vendor solutions is desirable such as Aruba, and a good foundation in routing and switching is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-sales scoping, including in bid responses, peer review and approval responsibilities
- To be able to use Ekahau site survey for wireless design, onsite optimisation and troubleshooting
- To be able to complete complex wireless designs to cover all verticals using Cisco and Meraki technology pillars
- Successful conversation of design into a fully working solution
- Advance troubleshooting to be able to support the customer when necessary
- Technical Design Authority (TDA) responsibilities for larger projects, design review and governance
- Escalation point for wireless related queries
- Providing guidance and support for other team members
Fundamental to this role:
- Extremely well organised with good communication skills and excellent spoken/written English.
- CCNP qualification OR proven experience working with wide range of Cisco wireless solutions
- Experience and knowledge of wireless surveys for all types of environments. Knowledge of RF antenna concepts, and their use in optimising wireless designs in specialist environments such as warehousing, manufacturing, enterprise offices and multiple user locations
- Applies knowledge and skills through handling problems beyond own area of expertise
- Experience and/or knowledge of wireless solutions including but not limited to Access Points, Controllers, management software including Cisco Meraki, Cisco Prime Instructure, Cisco Spaces and Cisco DNA Centre
- Excellent customer facing experience
- Full driving license
- Willing to travel to occasional site survey, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Experience with the Ekahau survey tools
- Have a solid understanding of networking fundamentals of Wired and Wireless LAN , and operation
- Night and weekend work may be required – project depending
