The Opportunity…
As a Mechanical & Electrical NEC Supervisor you will be expected to create a structure and formulate the procedures for the NEC Supervisor roles embedded into the Multi-Disciplinary Teams. The Role will include taking Team Leader duties within the Mechanical & Electrical Phase of the Project.
This is an exciting opportunity as the M&E NEC Supervisor, as you may be required to take on this role for one or more contracts, and you and your Team will be embedded in the wider Site Quality Surveillance Team and will work with other Surveillance Team Leaders to formulate and define procedures and strategies.
The role requires a range of technical skills and competences, management and communication skills, construction awareness and knowledge of various EDF Standard Project Procedures and Safety Procedures.
You will be deemed an expert in their field and manage a team of Construction Superintendents and Field Engineers to take responsibility for activities in the field relating to equipment installation activities Surveillance and its on-site facilitation.

What you’ll be doing…
<span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Proactively communicate with other site teams (H&S, contract, project controls, logistics), Quality Managers and Delivery Managers to maintain good communication links, and ensure activity is well and timely reported.- Ensure the team of Construction Superintendents and Field (Mechanical) Engineers achieve a broad range of competence to deliver their areas of accountability and responsibility.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Contribute information on specific area to weekly and monthly reports, as well as issuing and maintaining performance and KPI indicators.
- Liaise with the Site Quality Surveillance Manager to advise of any issues that come to light that should be addressed contractually, such as, issues requiring notices and provide advice to project.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Planning the M&E NEC Supervisor duties
- Develop an understanding of the design document and drawing approvals processes to understand what documents are approved for construction and installation activities.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Check decisions are not taken “in the field” by EDF Energy or contractors but are considered and approved via a formal process.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Check that each package has an approved Quality Control Plan and risk assessments are in place prior to Works commencement and ensure that Contractors are complying with such Plans.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Ensure Surveillance activities monitor that construction and installation drawings are approved and fit for construction.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">The M&E NEC Supervisor will be a staunch advocate of our Nuclear Safety Culture and help to embed this approach in all processes and activities undertaken on the Projec.
Who you are…
You will have broad knowledge of Mechanical, Welding, NDT, HVAC and Electrical Activities in the Nuclear Industry with high technical expertise.- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Nuclear and Management qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience.
- Excellent organisation, delegation, and communication skills to effectively manage operations of the site.
- Experience in the installation, construction, and erection of large Mechanical and Electrical Equipment within Nuclear Power Plants
- Experience of operating in a high security environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. To effectively communicate with your team, managers, and stakeholders.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Extensive experience and knowledge around the installation of NPP Equipment (Reactor, Vessel, Piping Systems (carbon and stainless steel), Steam Turbine, Pumps, Heaters and Tanks, Generator, Transformers, etc …)
- Extensive previous working experience in the delivery of large complex projects (including Nuclear Island and Conventional Islands Areas)
- General understanding of design obligations under CDM Regulations – along with an understanding of the document and drawing approvals processes
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of French can be an advantage.
- Experience in Pressurized Water Reactor Nuclear Power Plant, specific experience of EPR Design can be an advantage.
