Full description Welding Inspection Services is a leading service provider looking to recruit a Trainee NDT Technician to work alongside our diverse NDT team based in Bristol. The successful candidate will attain a place on our NDT training programme and after completion of the programme, you will gain full-time employment as a Junior NDT Technician at WIS.
You will receive formal training at recognised training establishments, exams and certification, alongside on the job training. This apprenticeship meets the requirements for Engineering Council registration at the
Engineering Technician level. The British Institute of Non-Destructive
Testing is licensed by the Engineering Council to approve the integrated knowledge / competence programmes included in this apprenticeship for
Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve qualifications in 3 non-destructive testing methods at Level 2 over a 3-year trainee period. Further opportunities for training / exams will be made available during your course of employment.
Non-destructive testing uses various methods, such as Ultrasonic,
Radiography, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant
Inspection, to detect cracks and other imperfections in welds, manufactured components, including in-service components on aircraft, ships, submarines, bridges etc.
This role will involve verbal communication with our customers and suppliers.
You will have good attention to detail and be always punctual and presentable, corporate uniform will be provided.

Annual Salary £16,000.00 for first year apprentice
Working Week (Days 37 hours-
and Hours) Monday to Thursday: 07.30 – 16.00
Friday: 07.30 – 12.30
30 minutes unpaid lunch break.
Overtime, including morning, evening and weekend work, subject to availability. Overtime paid at 1.5 time rate.

Future prospects Future prospect includes permanent full-time position, completing PCN
description Level 2 in multiple NDT disciplines, company and personal performance- based pay rises subject to experience and qualifications.

Qualifications required Apprentices should have a minimum of Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English, and a science subject.
There is also a requirement to pass a vision test in at least one eye, to satisfy the mandatory EN ISO 9712 eyesight test.
The candidate will have the ability to gain SC (Security Check) Clearance and shall be a UK national.
A full UK driving licence.

Reality Check Role will require working at height, confined spaces and over water.
Training will be provided for working at heights and/or confined spaces where applicable.
