Benefits:
Family will offer 10-12 PTO days to be used for vacation, sick and personal days. Nanny will have 6 paid holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Initially the family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate; they will probably buy a car within the first year. The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early.
Children:
The family has two sons who are 2.5 years old and 5 weeks old. B2 is active, energetic and fun. He is very communicative, has a lot of words and speaks in full sentences. He loves to learn – shapes, colors, new words, etc. He is partially bi-lingual, from being a part of the bi-lingual household. He loves to be outside, running, enjoying the water table and playing with chalk; the family has a good sized backyard. He also enjoys reading books, music, magnet boards, learning his letters and about animals, drawing and painting. B2 is not the biggest meat eater and gets tired of eating the same things, so the family rotates foods to keep him interested. He takes a 1.5-2 hour nap each day around 1:30 p.m. He has some educational screen time, which are 15-20 minute lessons. B2 will attend preschool in the fall, half day. B5weeks is living the typical infant life just eating, sleeping. He is a fairly relaxed baby for the most part; when he is awake he is up and looking around. He is starting a little schedule, eat – sleep – play, including tummy time. He likes to go on walks in the stroller. He is a good eater, primarily nursing at this point but does take a bottle at night so mom can sleep.
Family values:
This family values the attributes of kindness, respect and manners toward others. They enjoy time together whether it’s going to the zoo, the park, family bike rides, breakfast out or enjoying dinner in the backyard. When it comes to guidance with B2 they use redirection and try to educate him by choosing the same phrases over and over. They seek to treat a nanny like a member of the family, as the nanny is truly an extension of the parents. Mom shares that mornings can be a little chaotic, getting everybody ready. They may hand the baby to the nanny as soon as she walks in. But in the same way, they will be respectful of the nanny’s time and punctual at the end of the day. Unless it’s an emergency, they typically do not bother the nanny on nights or weekends. Mom would also say that she is a pretty direct person and will communicate preferences; they would like the nanny to be an open communicator as well. The parents are both physicians who work outside of the home. They have a bi-lingual household; Dad’s primary language is Spanish but both parents speak English and Spanish. Dad would say that the best thing about parenting is the morning routine, waking up to hearing B2 saying “Hi, Dada”, playing and wrestling. Mom adds she enjoys watching them grow, like B2 going from saying simple words to full sentences. He is so funny and always keeps them laughing.
Duties include:
Basic care and clean up after children. Children’s meal prep. Children’s laundry. Keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting stuff away, etc.
Pets:
The family has one dog; he is a poodle mix and small. He would need to be let out at least once per day and likes to be engaged during the day, particularly with fetching toys. It would be great if the nanny is comfortable with and truly enjoys dogs.
Covid Approach: (4) Moderately Open
Leaves home for work, exercise, shopping, and other activities as desired. Regularly socializes with more than 10 unique individuals outside their home. May invite a small number of trusted visitors, like neighbors, close friends, or family members inside the home. Practices hand-washing and wears masks sometimes. May not always maintain social distancing. *Both parents and B2 are vaccinated.*
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional long-term nanny who is dependable, safe and engaging. An ideal candidate would truly be excited to teach and have a true enthusiasm in their role with children. Someone who provides engaging, interactive play and learning experiences. Infant experience and potty training experience would be preferred but is not required. A person who is reliable, has open communication and enjoys dogs would be great. The family requires a 1-year commitment, but could see the role being needed for the next 5 years.
