The My Sighted Guide Partnership Officer provides an exceptional person-centric service user experience, enabling people with sight loss to live the life they choose by acting as the champion and technical expert for My Sighted Guide services. They ensure My Sighted Guide sighted guiding services are available, when appropriate, to service users at all stages of their mobility journey.

For this role you’ll be working 35 hours per week, worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This is a home start role with a nominated office assigned dependant on your home location, travel will be involved across the region for this role.

Candidate profile

To be able to fulfil this role, the skills and experience we are looking for in a potential candidate include;

Essential

  • Educated to post-secondary level with a minimum of 3 GCSE passes including Maths & English at grade C (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience of volunteer management, supervision, and development.
  • Experience of delivering training to groups and individuals in different formats.
  • Relevant and recent skills and experience working in a safeguarding setting or having responsibility for the safeguarding of others, e.g. social care, education, health, police, voluntary sector safeguarding lead
  • Recent and relevant experience of working within the children /vulnerable adults’ sector.
  • Understands the importance of accessibility and usability in a training context.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Demonstrates an understanding of visual impairment issues and service requirements.

  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the voluntary sector.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of other disabilities.
