Position Summary
The Music4Schools Program Manager is responsible for the delivery of high quality music programs in elementary schools (grades TK- 8) in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. The Manager maintains relations with partnering schools (20+), hires, trains and supervises highly qualified teaching musicians, oversees faculty development activities and day-to-day operations of the program.
As a key member of the In School Programs team, the Manager will work collaboratively with Art4Schools, finance, development, marketing and our onsite music program to deliver outstanding music education experiences to all students at our partnering schools.
The Manager supervises one full-time program coordinator.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership:
- Lead operations and strategic development of the M4S and after-school music programs
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with school/district partners including: administrators, classroom teachers, and parents; working collaboratively supporting program design, communicating program goals and resolving problems efficiently
- Oversee creation of class schedules for faculty members
- Design and lead program evaluation activities
- Manage contract negotiations with school and districts
- Supervise and conduct performance review of staff and faculty
Faculty:
- Hire, train, supervise, support and evaluate faculty performance
- Approve bi-weekly faculty and staff time cards and reimbursable expenses
Curriculum:
- Conduct annual evaluation of program including use of online surveys
- Research and oversee the development of compelling curriculum, keeping current with State and National standards
Budget:
- Participate in budget discussions, monitor revenues and expenses against goals
- Purchase supplies and inventory
Skills and Qualifications
Competencies
- Understanding of Music Education methodologies including Kodaly and Orff
- Knowledge of California State Arts Standards and National Core Arts Standards
- Understanding of Instrumental Music, including recorder, band and strings
- Curriculum development experience
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interact positively with a diverse group of people
- High level of comfort with public speaking
- Competent computer skills, particularly Google Workplace
Education
- MA in Music, Music Education or Certificate in Music Education

Physical Demands
- Must have a reliable transportation to travel to all schools service by the in-school program for meetings, observations, discussions and other required task
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary Range:
$72,000 to $78,000

Pay: $75,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
