University College London Hospital Neonatal Unit, Great Ormond Street Neonatal Unit and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
HOURS
12 hours per week (7.5 hour day & 4.5 hour day)

JOB DESCRIPTION
An exciting opportunity to provide Music Therapy on renowned hospital neonatal units in partnership with Noah’s Ark Children’s hospice. Providing support for all referred babies requiring specialist medical care and their parents on the neonatal unit as well as supporting transition to hospice where required.
This post has come as a result of an NIHR funded research study that you will take part in and will look to create a standardised practice for neonatal music therapy. Specialised neonatal training will be provided as part of the post.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm to be part of developing neonatal music therapy in the UK. You should demonstrate cultural sensitivity and be confident with working flexibly with the multicultural population. You will be working closely with parents and require an approachable manner and a flexible approach to music therapy.
You should be confident in liasing with professionals and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide weekly music therapy for infants requiring intensive/ specialist care.
- To provide therapeutic support for parents on the neonatal unit.
- To support parents with interpreting, understanding and responding to their baby’s communication.
- To develop parents sense of parental identity.
- To maintain professional and effective notes.
- To communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- To attend regular supervision with NIHR Clinical Academic Fellow to reflect on the development of the service.
