The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
- Our first vacancy - we are recruiting for are x3 seasonal Museum Assistants to work at Fort Nelson on a fixed term temporary seasonal based contract working April until 29th October 2023. Working 36 hours per week 5 / 7 days.

- We are also recruiting for x1 Museum Assistant to work on a permanent basis working 4 days. This post works 31 weeks a year at 30hrs per week (Summer) & 21 weeks a year at 24hrs per week (Winter).

Museum Assistants are a front facing role whose duties include delivering the daily program, engaging with visitors throughout the museum, as well as operating the museum gift shop.
Applicants will thrive on delivering consistently excellent customer service. They will be energetic, enthusiastic and will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude. As well as being a team player, applicants should be flexible and self-motivating with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Applicants must have previous experience of delivering tours or similar, and be able to respond to visitor enquiries. An interest in the Fort and National Collection of Artillery is desirable.
Any successful applicant will receive a full induction and training will be provided for all aspects of the role.
Weekend, evening and bank holiday working will be required.
This is a fixed term position from Monday 3rd April 2023 – Sunday 29th October 2023.
