Department:

The department is responsible for maintaining site operations and developing the site infrastructure across the EMC. The

department covers a wide range of responsibilities from managing the provision of utility services and management of key

service providers on site as well as the day to day maintenance and safe operation of the site and facilities.


The primary roles of the Central Services team are as follows:-

  • Maintenance and breakdown response of the facility
  • Compliance to statutory requirements INC, calibration, PUWER
  • Ensuring availability and maximum uptime of the plant / equipment and spares to support the function of the manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure all key requirements of the business are achieved and surpassed.
  • Support in the management of contracts for the day to day running of the EMC, review of key metrics and provide guidance for opportunities for improvements.
  • Sourcing of cost effective machinery / spares and services.
  • Managing planned, predictive & preventive maintenance schedules, employing all relevant techniques to ensure maximum availability of plant facilities equipment. Ongoing development of the facilities PM’s and updating into SAP.
  • Ensure that all areas of the business is supported to deliver SQDCPE for the site.
  • Meaningful metrics,KPI’s and information, relevant to the efficient maintenance and management and function of the facilities.
  • Control of the operations within the given departmental budget and coordinate the day to day activities.
  • Support and grow the CBM (Condition Based Monitoring) process to ensure the risks of in process failures are minimised.
  • Assist to any other tasks required to help the EMC achieve its vision of becoming a self-sufficient world class facility


The brief:

This new role is being created to ensure a wide range of services are delivered to support the whole of the manufacturing

function and wider facility. This will be achieved through excellent relationships with both partners and EMC teams closely

aligned to the powertrain ethos. Working with drive and self-motivation to achieve the level of delivery required, you will

ensure the optimum performance of the Engine Manufacturing Centre is maintained at all times.

To ensure all responsibilities are delivered on time and all key stakeholders are updated with the outcome


Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following;

  • Conduct preventative maintenance periodic checks
  • Attend breakdowns and return the facility back to a running condition
  • Support of DC tooling service and repair to protect the operations team from lack of spares availability.
  • Support the HAVS process within the central technical team.
  • Liase with the central calibration department to ensure alignment of schedules and registers
  • Ensuring the facilities fluid requirements are maintained in regards to stock, delivery and tracking
  • Work with first tier contractors to ensure site metrics and deliverables for facilities and environmental are met.
  • Support all defect reporting for site and snagging of issues for all areas and projects.
  • Work with Maintenance teams to define and build site spares stocks and ensure budget control.
  • Raise SAP and IESA orders following them through the approval process to the point of delivery.
  • Help to build database of all procedures linked to site services, Grounds maintenance, technical services & works engineering.
  • Support to ensure we are complaint from H&S and all environmental legislation.
  • Strive to support Continuous improvement culture by identifying areas for cost savings.
  • Manage and support insurance compliance servicing and inspections.
  • Obtain competitive like for like quotations for services and repairs using key nominated accounts and suppliers.
  • Organise the periodic NDT inspections to establish the current known condition of the plant rooms and the machinery across the site.
  • Actively support the manufacturing teams by maximising availability of equipment.
  • Support the needs of the factory by ensuring compliance with the control of contractors on site.
  • Must have a high level of documentation control and organisational skills
  • You may be required to support the business unit in other areas not mentioned above.


Skills, experience and qualifications required

  • Have completed an indentured apprenticeship or an NVQ/GNVQ level 3 or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical

discipline.

  • The candidate must have had valid experience of maintaining a fast paced production facility and be able to

demonstrate how to deal with the changing business needs and priorities whilst maintaining focus on the roles

requirements at all times.

  • Must have the ability to undertake all of the roles set out in key responsibilities.
  • Will have good leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels within the business and the customer supply

base.

  • Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and can demonstrate effective problem management.
  • Have a high level of drive, self-motivation and able to deliver with minimum supervision.
  • Must have a competent level of PC skills and be IT literate.
  • Estates, Facilities & Site Service experience is desirable.
