Job description
The UVA Engineering multimedia producer will be responsible for a wide range of creative storytelling tasks and responsibilities, including:
- scheduling interviews;
- coordinating production schedules and locations;
- writing assets such as scripts, talking points and photo/video captions;
- ensuring high-quality lighting and sound for photos, videos and audio productions;
- editing videos and photos;
- uploading content to the school’s website and social media channels;
- managing online platforms and subscriptions for video production and photography such as music subscriptions, video hosting platforms (e.g., Vimeo) and stock art subscriptions;
- adhering to University and School of Engineering brand and visual styles;
- collaborating on creative and editorial decision-making;
- ordering, maintaining and securely storing equipment needed for video production and photography; and
- properly archiving photos and videos in the school’s and University’s digital asset management systems.
The multimedia producer will also work closely with our in-house and external graphic designers and provide input and tips or training to other team members on basic skills such as taking good cell phone photos for social media. Critical to this job will be staying current on creative skills and best practices.
Well-qualified candidates should demonstrate:
- superb verbal, written and visual communication skills;
- competence in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, including Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects;
- a commitment to showcasing organizations’ current and aspirational diversity stories.
- an ability to take initiative and complete multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, self-directed work environment, while staying focused on deadlines, detail and quality;
- experience posting content on social media and web;
- experience with digital asset management systems or archiving;
- teamwork and collaboration skills; and
- strong experience using other types of professional-level multimedia equipment and programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: At least three years of experience.
Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
