Job description

The Mortuary & Bereavement Service at the Great Western Hospital are looking for an administrator to support the dual service we provide to the Trust and community. The successful applicant will require good organisational skills, possess a confident friendly approach, good at establishing meaningful working relationships and be able to think outside the box. Prior NHS working is not essential, but we need you to be organised, proactive, reliable, dedicated and pay great attention to detail. This post is to the support the Mortuary Manager and their team with various administrative tasks, data entry, taking telephone calls and invoicing. Please note, you will be located within the Mortuary office at the Great Western Hospital. 1. Keep and maintain accurate electronic and paper records of the deceased details including; name and address, valuables, clothing and property found on or with the deceased. 2. Maintain financial records and created invoices for HMC, Funeral Directors and Doctors. 3. Utilise IT skills for database entry and to access a range of hospital computer systems when required. Training will be provided. 4. Support the Mortuary and Bereavement Team by liaising with Trust staff and bereaved families. 5. To assist with providing statistics for audits. 6. To liaise and maintain good working relationships with multiple stakeholders including: Coroner’s Office, Police, Scenes of Crime Officers, Undertakers, Nursing Staff, Chaplaincy, relatives and any other department or persons met in the course of duty. 7. Ensure at all times that the Mortuary and Office areas are fully stocked with the day to day supplies to enable an effective service. 8. Support the Mortuary technical team with the decontamination schedules within the Mortuary and maintain the required records. 9. Assist the Mortuary and Bereavement Team with the management, record keeping and sensitive disposal of Products of Conception in accordance with the next of kin instructions and HTA regulations.
