Mobile Software Development Engineer

Summary of the role:

Amadeus is at the forefront of improving the traveller experience. The Airport Companion App is a major contributor to this improvement. It provides a mobile solution to roaming agents at the airport. Agents equipped with mobile devices (such as iPads) can serve the travellers where they are in the airport, reducing the need to use physical desks. Initially designed for Apple users only, we are now starting an exciting transformation to support more platforms (e.g. Android) and increase our airlines adoption.

You will work in the team in charge of building this app, alongside Business Analysts and QA Engineers, and using Agile methodology (Scrum and SAFe).

As a Software Development Engineer, you’ll be accountable for the technical design and delivery of the product functionalities based on the solutions agreed with the stakeholders (Business Analysts, Product Managers, and the customer themselves).

In this role you’ll:

  • Analyse needs and requirements, from customer and internal sources, and propose functional/technical solution recommendations with supporting rationale as well as an estimate of the required effort.

  • Write and/or contribute to feasibility studies/analysis documents.

  • Deliver comprehensive and high-quality operational software, documentation, and unit/component tests necessary for the application.

  • Identify interactions and assess impacts with other Amadeus packages/products/solutions to ensure functional and technical compatibility.

  • Identify technical risks and take responsibility for mitigating and managing them.

  • Establish and improve architectural design of the application.

  • Coordinate those interactions from building phase to delivery to ensure the compliance of the delivered functionality.

  • Carry out the functional walk-through of the product with the Development team and Product Management.

  • Contribute with QA teams to product quality by giving inputs for the test strategy.


Maintain and optimise:

  • Troubleshoot and investigate defects raised by our customers to ensure compliance of our products to the specifications and system integrity.

  • Communicate with customers on the steps taken to solve the issues.


Create and innovate:

  • Provide functional and technical knowledge for Sales, Account Management, Development, Implementation and Support requests.

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance to create high quality products and enhancements.

About the ideal candidate, you’ll have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent with at least 2 years of working experience.

  • Experience in build processes and releasing procedures of iOS/Android applications.

  • Experience in build apps from such technologies as React Native, Flutter, Capacitor, Angular, Ionic.

  • Knowledge of Swift, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, Dart programming languages (with expertise is at least one of them).

  • Experience following Agile methodology.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, great team spirit, taste for coaching/mentoring, multicultural approach, good analytical and conceptual thinking, customer focus.

  • Experience in the Travel IT industry is a plus.
