Position: Mobile Maintenance Assistant

Salary: £28,418 plus fully expensed van, mobile phone and tablet.

Location: ideally based Doncaster / Goole area. To cover a geographical area including East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, and into the southern M1 / A1 corridor.

Hours: working full time, 37.5 hours 6am - 2pm (flexibility required, dependent upon business needs).

As we plan to continue with our impressive store expansion programme we are looking to recruit a regionally based Mobile Maintenance Assistant based in the Doncaster / Goole area on a full time basis. The successful Mobile Maintenance Assistant will be assisting the Retail Facilities Manager in providing an effective compliance maintenance and repair service for a cluster of retail stores within their own designated region.

The successful Mobile Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for the following;

• Visiting local stores on a planned schedule to carry out various works as well as reactive repairs to the retail estate including basic plumbing, joinery, patch plastering, tiling, decorating, flooring repairs, painting, 1st line electrical faults, replacing lamps, repairing appliances and white goods, door repairs, etc.
• Assisting the Retail Facilities Manager to deliver planned and reactive maintenance including repairs to M & E systems and the building fabric
• Assisting the Retail Facilities Manager in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of maintenance logs, servicing schedules to comply with relevant H & S legislation and in house policies
• Carrying out minor works as required such as installing vehicle bollards, fitting shelving, floor protection sheets
• Carrying out scheduled inspections and checks on certain items of store equipment (PAT)
• Supervising sub-contractors working in stores & assisting when required
• Liaising with the Retail Facilities Manager and Facilities Helpdesk to ensure jobs are appropriately prioritised, coordinated and completed
• Responsible for ensuring that the regional depot has sufficient levels of appropriate fixtures & fittings in stock and that it is maintained to a suitable standard
• Assist the Retail Facilities Manager in identifying and resolving facility compliance issues
• Any other reasonable associated duties or work which may be required by the Facilities Manager from time to time.

Requirements

• Previous experience of providing 1st line maintenance and repair work (minimum of 2 years’ experience)
• Ideally from a similar background such as facilities management, generalist property maintenance or trade (electrical, plumbing, joinery, decorating, plastering or flooring etc.)
• Proven knowledge & experience of basic electrics (a qualification in basic electrical competency / PAT for example) will be required, however training may be offered for suitable candidates
• Knowledge of fire alarms, security systems etc.
• Experience of supervision and communicating to sub-contractors
• Experience of planned and reactive works
• Working in accordance with safe systems of work including Permit to Work procedures & a working knowledge of Health & Safety practices
• IT literate
• Full driving license
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to manage own workload effectively and efficiently
• Willingness to work weekends where necessary to assist store openings
• Willingness to spend nights away (fully expensed) on an occasional basis
