Air Conditioning Engineer – Swindon and surrounding areas
We are looking for a full time Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer to join our growing team of service engineers. You’ll be working alongside our other midlands-based engineers across a large number of our commercial clients in the Wiltshire and surrounding areas.
This is a fully remote role and requires a full UK driving licence.
Day to Day Responsibilities include:
- Undertaking all aspects of air conditioning and refrigeration installation, commission, and maintenance. This includes servicing and repair of VRVs, VRFs, Splits and Chillers
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with Thermatic’s PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and task schedules
- Undertaking PPM activity to a high standard and in a professional manner
- Undertaking reactive maintenance works as directed by the Help Desk and/or management team
- Producing technical and situational reports as required
- Proactively using the technology and systems provided in order to support Thermatic’s compliance and contractual obligations
- Carrying out all works requested in a professional and proactive manner
- Assisting the management team with producing quotations by providing accurate and good quality information where extra works are identified
- Communicating clearly, effectively, and professionally with team members, management, and client representatives
- Escalating any major site issues or incidents via the appropriate channel and within acceptable time frames
- Providing accurate time sheet information on time
- Supporting team members including acting as second man where required
Other duties include:
- Participating in a 24 hour call out rota, averaging 1 week in 4
- Attending team meetings or briefings as requested
The nature of this role means that you will be expected to support clients with tasks outside general expectations of Air Conditioning & Refrigeration engineering. Such tasks may include general maintenance, basic plumbing and electrical work, and acting as a second man. We are predominantly an HVAC facilities maintenance company so knowledge and a willingness to operate across all aspects involved is essential.
This role is fully remote requiring all work to be carried out on customer sites. You must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and be comfortable driving between sites.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 1 year’s experience working on a range of Air Conditioning equipment
- FGAS certificate
- NVQ Level 2 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipment
- Basic plumbing & building material skills/knowledge
- Sound understanding and experience of meeting Health & Safety obligations regarding maintenance activities
- Able to demonstrate experience in Building Environmental and Electrical Services including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning within the building services industry
- Sound understanding and experience of meeting Health & Safety obligations regarding maintenance activities
- Must be prepared to work out of hours when required and participate in a call out rota (1 in 4)
- Have good communication and organisation skills
- Have a positive “can do” attitude
- Ability to work on own or as part of a team
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- GasSafe qualified across all commercial and industrial equipment, applications, and installations CPA1, CCN1 CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, CODNCO1, CIGA1 ICPN1, TPCP1, COMCAT 1-5
- Oil Fired Heaters (oftec)
- LPG
- Electrical Qualifications
- Basic plumbing & building material skills/knowledge
- IPAF & PASMA
- Have experience working in the Facilities Management industry, specifically HVAC

Hours & Location of Work:
- Fully remote - covering Wiltshire and surrounding areas
- Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week
- Opportunity to increase working hours through overtime
- There is a requirement to work an occasional early starts/late finishes. Engineers will also need to be scheduled into a 24hr on-call rota (average 1 week in 4)
