Job description
An opportunity has arisen for two 23 hours per week Healthcare Assistant's post working within a busy Minor Injury Unit at Liskeard Hospital. One post is a Permanent HCA post and the other is a one year fixed term contract HCA post covering maternity.
The provision of assistance to the MIU trained staff within the minor injury unit in planning delivering and evaluating care. All interventions will be carried out to a high standard under the supervision of the trained MIU practitioners. To provide A&C support as needed to members of the team as well as cover for OPD Clinic when and if required. These posts would require the successful candidates to carry out minor injury treatments such as dressings, plastering, general observations and triage.
Key Dimensions of the post are:
- 49 bedded Community Hospital (spread over 2 Wards – Oak 30 Beds, Willow 19 Beds)
- Outpatients Department
- Minor Injuries Department
- X-ray Department
- Physiotherapy Department
Visits to the MIU prior to applying are welcomed.
The ideal candidates will have experience working in an urgent care/MIU environment and will have completed MIU skills/triage workbooks . An ability to work under pressure in an emergency setting and a willingness to undertake further skills training is essential.
